Gamma Festival includes the most advanced projects on techno music, creative culture, and art, with ten stages and four different locations around St Petersburg. Curated and co-produced by Natalia Fuchs Gamma Festival represents experimental and electronic music, avant-garde sound, and media art but also education and interdisciplinary research, especially in the field of art, science and technology.
With this in mind, Gamma Festival has announced an international open call for their experimental laboratory Gamma_LAB XR project. Gamma_LAB was launched by Gamma Festival and ARTYPICAL art practice in 2019. The aim of the project is to promote knowledge about modern technologies and facilitate their usage in the field of art and culture, as well as to create unique interdisciplinary projects.
In 2020 they launched the laboratory Gamma_LAB XR to create new artistic and technological XR works. XR is used to create virtual, augmented, hybrid reality and immersive environments. Gamma_LAB XR consists of a series of theoretical and practical workshops with the participation of an international team of facilitators, also using remote participation opportunities.
The laboratory will take place from May 12 to May 22, 2020, in Saint Petersburg, and the results of Gamma_LAB XR will be presented at the exhibition as part of the GAMMA festival in July 2020. Media artists, designers, architects, programmers, developers and researchers with experience in the field of XR and past participation in any exhibition projects or festivals are encouraged to apply.
