Open Call: Mira X Hangar Immersive Narratives for 360º Projection Dome

Text by CLOT Magazine

MIRA Digital Arts Festival and Hangar hope to fill domes and planetariums with the most innovative immersive art this year. Advertising for two month-long residencies at Hangar’s studios, their aim is to gather the best of national and international talent to produce a body of design in a 360º format. In return, winners will benefit from the workspaces, technical support, services and context offered by the institutions and the exposure gained through their work exhibited at the Mira festival from November 7 to 9, 2019.

Mira is an annual festival of digital arts that explores techno-culture and digital trends, featuring a repertoire of audiovisual shows, immersive installations and workshops; Hangar, a centre for art research and development, aims to support visual artists throughout the different stages of the creative process. It does so by facilitating an array of project-specific services, such as equipment and production assistance. Both institutions are focused on promoting, engaging and developing emerging disciplines and methodologies for audiovisual creation.

Participants from any background and discipline are welcome; however, a skill set is required to develop design work for immersion and interaction. Ultimately, the aspiring candidates should be engaging in how they can develop new narratives through research and innovation to comply with the requirements of the creative brief. Proposals will be accepted for submission from 29th January to 23rd March, results following to be published online by the respective organisations while the winners will be contacted directly.
