In an increasingly liquid world where the borders between virtual and physical worlds are ever narrower, a group of diverse curators founded the art agency Glimpses of Art in London. With a nomadic approach, Glimpses of Art creates unique pop-up exhibitions curated through the lens of ‘immersive transience’ and gives contemporary art the platform to show viewers an expansive window into society interrogating identity and conventionality.

From October 11 to 17, 2022, they present their inaugural exhibition, Glimpses – We Are What We See, at 347 Old Street in Shoreditch, London. It is incredibly exciting to finally announce our upcoming London exhibition and the debut of the Glimpses model. We have curated an impressive collection of artworks and are thrilled to showcase the many talented artists who have taken part in questioning convention and censorship. We hope the exhibition will stimulate and challenge visitors and help give them a new perspective on what identity means to them, say joint curators Lidia Ravviso and Auronda Scalera.

Glimpses – We Are What We See will bring together 30 international artists and their unique art practice, with a very strong focus on women and non-binary artists and on promoting the exploration of identity from a non-normative perspective. The exhibition features NFT artists Kamilja, Cymoonv, KamaGang, Vidya, Serwah Attafuah and Sasha Katz, a 3D artist and Gucci collaborator exploring female sensuality and the perfection of the imperfection of the female body.

Other participating artists are Floria Sigismondi, who has directed episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale and American Gods; The French Dispatch visual artist Sandro Kopp; erotic illustrator Apollonia Saintclair; musician Johnny Hostile, mainly known for his work as a producer with the rock band from London Savages or the french-singing project Lescop will display his unconventional gaze on photography; and video artist Marne Lucas and photographer Selina Mayer. The show also embraces other art mediums like embroidery with Nicole Mazza, sculpture with Gianna Dispenza and drawing with Tiffany Cole and Shalva Nikvashvili.

Curators Auronda Scalera and Lidia Ravviso, in collaboration with the designer Andres Ros Roto, have created a show wherein design, lighting, A/V interactions, and the exhibition’s narrative concur to deliver an emotional and sensory experience, working along with Kimatica, a vanguardist studio working on interactive technology and the human body, which will give the audience the opportunity to be part of an immersive display. Glimpses – We Are What We See will also invite us to reflect on how Art can offer us a transformative reflection on ourselves – we are what we see – towards a fluid conception of body, intimacy and identity and celebrate freedom of expression – we see what we are.

Glimpses – We are what we see runs from October 11 to 17, 2022.
