Gamma_PRO, the international conference on art and technology held in St. Petersburg, is back on July 10, 2020. The conference will be held for the third time this year. However, due to the pandemic lockdown and social distancing measures, it will become a hybrid event combining physical and virtual experiences.
Curated by Natalia Fuchs Gamma_PRO is part of Gamma Festival, the avant-garde sound and media art festival held in St. Peterborough. Gamma Festival represents experimental and electronic music, sound, and media art but also education and interdisciplinary research, especially in the field of art, science and technology.
For this year’s edition, Gamma_PRO and the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg co-organise the annual international conference united by the common theme of Culture and Media. Experiencing 21st Century. The program presents such areas as the development of culture by means of multimedia, the interaction of festivals with the audience in the digital environment, contemporary aesthetic education, the institutional support of art communities, the interdisciplinary aspects of the cultural process, as well as the interpretation of classics and contemporaneity in the post-digital era.
Divided into four panels Aesthetic Education in a digital context and Multimedia and creativity today, moderated by Natalia Fuchs, and Interpretations of Classics and Contemporaneity and Post-digital Perspectives, moderated by Peter Kirn, the full program is free for viewers and listeners and will be broadcasted online.
Representatives from music festivals like Antonia Folgera from SONAR + D (Spain), Damian Romero from MUTEK (Mexico) or Oliver Bauerhenn from CTM (Germany) will join theorists and practitioners of media art like Francesca Franco from the Venice Biennale (Italy), Benoit Rousseau from La Gaite Lyrique (France) or Dimitris Kontopoulos from ArtScience Museum (Singapore); among many others.
