Exhibition: ‘Material Far Futures’ at The Future Laboratory

Text by CLOT Magazine

Tomorrow’s materials will be smarter, stronger, more dynamic and less ecologically damaging. But how will future materials change the design of our products?

The ActiveAir footwear project will explore the potential to filter air at ground level through the soles of our shoes and Tina Gorjanc’s Phylogenetic Atelier will consider the ethical implications of bringing back extinct animals as a source of rare materials.

The installations will be displayed with the aim to demonstrate the value in thinking strategically about material science as a means of kick-starting design and product development. The exhibition will be free to visit in the Future Laboratories’ studios in Brick Lane (The Place. The Future Laboratory, 26 Elder Street (London E1 6BT)) from the 20th to the 24th of September. See opening times below.
