Competition: RESHAPE18, on sensing materialities

A design competition on new materialities is taking place in Barcelona in October, and submissions are open until 31st August.  The competition is brought by Reshape, an online platform run by Noumena, IN(3D)USTRY From Needs to Solutions and Fira de Barcelona. Reshape aims to promote research, design and production of digital ideas while exploring implications and applications of technology and innovation in our society during the current times and looking up to the future. The RESHAPE design competition focuses on wearable technology and digital fabrication and seeks designers from all around the world to explore the impact of new design rules on the daily lives and bodies of the future.


On their IV Edition this year (RESHAPE 18 | sensing materialities), Reshape launches two categories: Wearable technology and Product Design.  Both categories look for ideas able to improve our daily life by interfacing with the innovation of technology and materials. The wearable technology category challenges designers to propose a new garment solution relevant to the environment and human health. The Product Design category is addressed to all designers interested in product solution that promotes well-being in a wide range of applications, from sports goods to medical devices.


For the jury, Reshape has selected a panel of international experts from the fashion industry and production industry who will evaluate the submitted projects RESHAPE18| sensing materialities will award three winners and seven honourable mentions for each category.

Wearable technology category: Bradly Dunn Klerks  (Innovation expert for the arts and technology), Simone Cesano (Senior Director of Design Operations at ADIDAS), Anastasia Pistofidou (Director of the FabTextile and founder of Fabricademy), Valerie Bergeron (Materials Library Manager at the FAD- Fostering Arts and Design) and Laia Mogas-Soldevila (Licensed Architect & Designer, Interdisciplinary Researcher in Living and Future Materials).

For the Consumer Goods category: Claudia Pasquero (Director of ecoLogicStudio), Alessandro Manetti (Director del IED Barcelona), Valerio Parisi (Global Trade Marketing Director at Luxottica), Davide Neri (Director of Waspproject Italy),  Augusto Guardiola (Director of Marcelo Vilá’s Corporate Development) and  Gaia Danese (The consul of Italy in Barcelona and ITmakES Project manager).


The competition wants to honour worthy designers and connect them with major companies in the fashion and innovation industry. The winning designers from Reshape competition will receive a financial award of up to 2.000 euros, an invitation to the Reshape Forum, a project showcase at the Reshape exhibition and an exclusive meeting to pitch their ideas with Reshape partners.
