Anish Kapoor: Untrue Unreal, Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, until 4 February 2024
From October 7, 2023, to February 4 2024, Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi presents Anish Kapoor. Untrue Unreal, a major exhibition devised and produced by the celebrated artist who has revolutionised the notion of sculpture in contemporary art. Curated by Arturo Galansino, Director General of Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, the show will feature monumental installations, intimate environments and thought-provoking forms that will forge an original and captivating dialogue between the art of Anish Kapoor and the architecture and audience of Palazzo Strozzi. SWAB Barcelona International Contemporary Art Fair, October 5-8, 2023
SWAB Barcelona showcases the latest trends in international contemporary art, with galleries proposing a new scenario towards abstraction. The International Contemporary Art Fair of Barcelona celebrates its 16th edition from Thursday, October 5 to Sunday, October 8. It will feature the participation of 70 galleries, 27 national and 43 from 21 countries around the world, and the participation of more than 200 artists. More info.
Frieze London, Regent’s Park, October 11-15
Frieze has confirmed details of its curated programme at Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2023, both taking place from October 11 to 15, 2023, in The Regent’s Park. A centrepiece of Frieze London’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, the programme explores the UK’s cultural landscape through a series of collaborations with key arts organisations and public institutions. Paris+ par Art Basel, Grand Palais Éphémère, October 20-23
For its second edition, Paris+ par Art Basel will bring together 154 leading galleries – including 60 with an exhibition space in France – with engaging solo, duo, and group presentations of works by French and international artists, from 20th-century masters to emerging voices. With an expanded, citywide public program, the fair will increase its presence beyond the Grand Palais Éphémère, featuring freely accessible artworks and a Conversations program in six storied venues across the French capital. Paris+ par Art Basel will take place in the Grand Palais Éphémère from October 20 to 22, 2023, with Preview Days on October 18 and 19. More info.
Designblok, Royal Garden of Prague Castle & Prague Castle Ball Games Hall, until October 15
Designblok, the most important design festival in Central and Eastern Europe, has unveiled the look of the eagerly anticipated main exhibition of the 25th edition. Under the subtitle, Intergalactic Beauty of Czech Design, a microcosm of ten top Czech designers and their unique original works, conceived as personal manifestos, will open to visitors in the Royal Garden of Prague Castle. The second project that will be displayed on the grounds of the presidential residence also has an international dimension – the successful Made by Fire project will be presented to Czech visitors for the first time in the Prague Castle Ball Games Hall. Both exhibitions will be on view from 3 to 15 October 2023. More info.
