SONICA Festival is one of the acclaimed experimental festivals happening across Europe. Founded in Ljubljana SONICA festival is curated by MoTA – Museum, an award-winning experimental platform for research and production of Transitory Art and is part of the SHAPE and ICAS platforms. Noise, sound, field recordings, social engagement, and extreme music are at their core. To celebrate the 5th-anniversary of IKLECTIK, they are teaming up with them to curate a special night of performances, audiovisuals, and screenings.
IKLECTIK is a not for profit art platform founded in 2014 in London and dedicated to showcasing contemporary art, experimental music and artistic critical practice. Their aim is to focus on experimentation in arts, sound art, installation and cross-disciplinary projects.
The programme includes cult Slovenian trio Širom‘s last album UK premiere; UK premiere of the French-born Berlin-based artist Jessica Ekomane, who will present her new immersive surround live performance; Tomas Nordmark will present The Neck, his new 4-channel commissioned piece, followed by his AV performance; Multidisciplinary artist and musician Spatial will present Transduction, an optisonic intervention of abstract animation of visual music for projection and multi-channel sound. Alongside the concert, MoTA will showcase Arte:Facts, a selection of artworks from MoTA Collection by artists such as Tristan Perich, Andy Lomas, and Zimoun, among others and the screening of the new video work by Slovenian artist Uršula Berlot with sound design by sound artist Scanner.
