Every September London Design Festival takes over London with a nine-day celebration comprising of over 400 different events, exhibitions and installations. Established in 2003, the festival ‘celebrates and promotes London as the gateway to the international design community and the world’s leading stage for design innovation’.
London Design Festival curates a programme of local and international projects and trade shows that allows visitors and Londoners to experience must-see projects and discover future trends in design. London becomes an essential platform for new and established exhibitors across the eleven official Design Districts areas. One of these districts, Bankside Design District, runs East to West, alongside the Thames from Borough Market to Oxo Tower Wharf where an ambitious programme of workshops and events takes place.
ARTEFACT FOOTWEAR, FUTURES exhibits selected work from graduates from three design courses at London College of Fashion —MA Fashion Artefact, MA Footwear and MA Fashion Futures— will be showcasing their degree work at London Design Festival between 13 – 17 September at Oxo Tower Wharf in Bargehouse Street (London).
Combining traditional craft with new technologies, Boyeong Lim, Laura Thomas, Eliana Zurlo, and Christina Haxholm present a conceptual work in response to contemporary culture. The exhibition is an opportunity to meet ‘the new generation of adaptable, experimental, eco-literate and culturally sensitive artists, designers and practitioners’ and explore how design could change in a rapidly evolving society.
