Event: TFT’s BLK PWDRS album launch at The Glove that Fits

Text by CLOT Magazine

This Thursday, 27 September, our digital producer Stephen McLaughlin is launching a new solo musical project, TFT, with an evening of noisy dancefloor electronics to celebrate the release of BLK PWDRS. The night will also feature performances from Recsund (Quantum Natives), Ghost Tracks (Cluster Node) and support from Dj Precariat. The launch will be held at the Glove that Fits, a new venue in Hackney (London) which, in the few months that it has been opened, is bringing lots of exciting and adventurous performances to the area.

TFT departs from McLaughlin’s noise-ambient explorations with An Trinse to embark on dancefloor excursions with a new album, BLK PWDRS,  soon to make a debut on First Transmission. An Trinse made a name with drawn-out soundscapes ruminating on the Irish landscape, leading to gigs with JK Flesh and Sarah Davachi. Still, this new material acts as the antithesis to that, with Detroit/Dutch, inflected electro jammed out live at the moment to tape with minimal editing.

The project has only recently seen the light of day after tracks getting passed around friends for a while and has already been featured on mixes by Alien Jams and Lokier (Pinkman). McLaughlin will be piling all vintage Roland boxes and esoteric Russian oscillators onto the dancefloor for the launch live set.

Recsund will be channelling classic hyperactive Rephlex electro, spitting fire on the mic and with tunes the length of your arm to boot. We are proud to have him finishing things off (he’s is also a usual collaborator of Lawrence Lek), while Ghost Tracks bring they aery synthetic meditations, exploring industrial music from a variety of angles blending techno, minimal synth and noise together with introspective vocals into a disorientating mix. Precariat will take the DJ’s duties with his impeccable  EBM selection.
