The Old Church is an arts and performance venue in the heart of Stoke Newington in North-East London. It’s the only surviving Elizabethan church and is now home to the Dronica festival, the experimental sound-art festival founded in 2016 by event curator Nicola Serra. The church becomes more than a venue, and it could be considered the play’s main character as the architecture per se influences how sound propagates.
The festival produces around three editions annually and, now in its third year, hosts live music performances, live visual projections, indoor & outdoor sound art installations, and photography & drawings exhibitions at the Old Church in Stoke Newington in East London.
Their Dronica #9 2-day edition for this year occurs between Friday, 30th November, and Saturday, 1st of December. The lineup on Friday includes the likes of former cult industrial band Sigillum S Eraldo Bernocchi, the sound performative collective The Seer, Robin Felcott’s solo project Metalogue, multidisciplinary artist Luca Nasciuti and the first debut of duo Jude Cowan Montague & Lisa McKendrick.
A night full of electronics, spoken word, industrial and experimental sounds. The highlights on Saturday include the techno experimental of Tapefeed, who are presenting their first live experimental no dancefloor, the UK debut of the audiovisual Berlin-based artist The Nent, and the dark ambient, drone and power electronic of London-based An Trinse, naming a few.
The music and installations are programmed by Dronica, a weekend of drone, noise, ambient, post-rock and techno experimental that will make you pilgrimage to the north of London.
