Cluster Node and CLOT Magazine launch their second event in the PORTALS series. Following a successful launch in October 2023, PORTALS 02 will open again to hefty sound experimentation on 11th April at the Glove that Fits in East London from 7:30 pm. This time sounds will gravitate more towards intense noise electronics, abstract throbbs, and fractured rhythms.
The star lineup includes Nick Klein, Psychic Liberation record label boss and hardest working man in art/noise explorations. His compositions often explore themes of abstraction, texture, and rhythm, creating dynamic and hypnotic sonic experiences. Nic Krog (formerly known as Misantrop) constructs harrowing sonic pieces and live shows that articulate between spoken word, sound art, and abstract club rhythms. Both coming from Berlin, where they are based, their performances are poised to show unique perspectives on sonic experimentation shaped by their artistic visions.
From the local East London crew, we´ll have the much-awaited return of YAWS to the experimental scene stage. After a prolific period on bass and vocals in Keno and Casing, he is finally back behind (and probably stomping around) some electronics. TFT (another of the artistic expressions from Stephen McLaughlin, aka An Trinse), will showcase a brand new live show in which his overloaded dancefloor workouts have been streamlined into a mix of pointillist polyrhythms and laser-sharp sine waves.
To finish off, we have a similarly prolific bandmate of YAWS and Hackney’s premiere Nu Crust act Skitter, DJ Aventex. Last seen tearing it up at an impromptu b2b with TFT at the Iklectikartlab closing party, the whole night is not to be missed.
TFT will also show some of the generative visual work from his latest AV project in the venue’s bar area. The work, developed in collaboration with Alistair Ramage, was presented at London´s ICA for Ignota Books’s Spiral event last October.
