Event: ‘Port Out, Starboard Home’, 10 years of Posh Isolation

Text by CLOT Magazine

Posh Isolation, the project founded by Christian Stadsgaard and Loke Rahbek in 2009 in Copenhagen, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend. Posh Isolation focuses on presenting work from Scandinavian artists and collaborators by giving a platform to current music, art, and design, with over 200 music releases and numerous international exhibitions, programs, and showcases; the project, they say is an evolving composite of voices and horizons anchored to its home.

From May 23 to 25, 2019, Posh Isolation are celebrating the 10th anniversary with Port Out, Starboard Home, a 3-day event included as part of Art Week CPH.  Port Out, Starboard Home will host events in multiple locations around the city. Still, its home will be an installation and accompanying shop at Overgaden, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Copenhagen. The installation will be the centrepiece of this 3-day schedule of live shows, performances and parties, taking place both within and outside the walls of Overgaden. It will see the main names of the label and more talented, up-and-coming Scandinavian acts the label is also continuously supporting.

The opening day takes place on the evening of May 23 with the presentation of the installation and performances by KYO w/ Jeuru, Xenia Xamanek & Ydegirl, followed by a club night with including Troel Hass, Age Coin and  Swedish producer Varg, who, along with Abdulla Rashim, run the dark techno label Northern Electronics. It will be followed by a couple more days with afternoon yoga sessions, plenty of transgressive and experimental acts, and club nights Posh isolation is renowned for.

The closing ceremony appears as one of the highlights, presenting a wide variety of expressions in contemporary electronic music by some of the defining projects in the history of the label, both old and new, from the experimental industrial of Puce Mary and Damien Dubrovnik (Stadsgaard and Rahbek) to the synthetic ballads of KhalilH2OP and the decadent dance mania of Lust For Youth. This is a not-to-missed event for those who happen to be in the Danish capital this weekend.
