This Sunday 22 January, SWEET DEBRIS launches an event series that will be dispersed throughout 2022 at Equivalentbehaviour, a gallery space in Northeast London.
For this round, artists will be exploring notions of geographical entanglement. With spirits that may be repressed or shared, historical and psychosomatic. Aiming to travel between voyeur and consumer, with ‘lost’ images and electronic sounds that suggest a potential past and possible future.
Martyn Riley (Tokoro 23) is a sound artist and musician originating from Derbyshire. His Sound Art practice specialises in memory and sound-triggers that employ layered recording techniques whilst utilising a diverse mix of methods in sound composition. Accompanying him will be found slide projections from long-time collaborator Tim Green.
An Trinse (aka CLOT Magazine’s own Stephen Mclaughlin) will present an evolved iteration of his AV work presented for the first time two years to the day at CLOT’s Dynamic Nodes exhibition in Berlin, in the context of transmediale’s Vorspiel. This work expands on his exploration of prehistoric Ireland to deal with speculative ancient history and imagine the interfaces of lost technology. A visual language emerges based on ancient sites rendered in 3D being examined and dissolved by an archaeological traveller.
Earlier in the day will feature djing from Louie Isaaman-Jones and food from Katerina Michail (from 2pm), plus exhibited work from the Equivalentbehaviour residents in response to the evening’s performances. From 2:30pm to 6:30pm, there will be a DJ set by Louie Isaaman-Jones, joined by special guests. At 7pm the Sound performance by Tokoro 23, with found images provided by Tim Green and closing the event at 8pm AV performance by An Trinse.
Equivalentbehaviour’s quest to connect people with images, objects and sound has formed into an Artist-Run Space and Environment made by Katrina Stamatopoulos and Wojciech Kawczyk, the maker behind StorqueStudios.
