SOUNDMUSEUM is a large-scale group exhibition filling the entire museum with sound and multi-sensory experiences. The exhibition features work from sound installation, audience-driven performance, interactive sound installation, and light art to visual music by 13 internationally recognised artists and collectives. It is organised across multiple dimensions to invite visitors to be active performers and experience live moments. From the moment the audience enters the exhibition space, they rediscover what it means to hear something and for something to be audible and then participate in the process of making sounds.
Robin Minard’s sound installation, David Helbich’s audience-led performance, Kristin Oppenheim’s minimalist vocal installation, Bona Park’s multi-channel video, Doron Sadja’s installations are on display together with major works by Mary Ellen Bute, Jules Engel and Jordan Belson. Our favourite works are those from Lab212 and Robert Henke, two well-known artists for CLOT’s audience. Lab212’s interactive sound art installation is a visual and audible harmony composed of the audience’s fingertips, and Robert Henke’s audiovisual performance leads the viewer into an infinitely changing space generated by shimmering laser lights.
The exhibition reminds us that sound is an element that we can respond to, inspires us to imagine. We can also create ourselves. I would like to pursue the matters related to light and sound and to emphasise even more the dialogue with the place in which each of our pieces is exhibited, told CLOT Magazine Béatrice Lartigue, a member of the Paris-based art collective Lab212.
Lab212 was founded in 2008 by a group of friends who had graduated together from Les Gobelins’ Media and Interaction course.
